Clindamycin can treat folliculitis caused by bacterial infections and is not more effective in treating folliculitis caused by fungal infections.
Folliculitis is a skin disease mainly involving hair follicles, and the symptoms are red papules centered on hair follicles, accompanied by itching and pain. Folliculitis has more causes, usually caused by bacterial infection, and some patients are caused by fungal infection.
Clindamycin belongs to the antibiotic class of drugs, can be used for streptococcus genus, staphylococcus genus and anaerobic bacteria and other sensitive strains of bacteria caused by the infection, if it is bacterial folliculitis, the use of clindamycin can play a good therapeutic effect.
However, if the folliculitis is caused by fungal infection, clindamycin has no effect, and the patient needs to use antifungal drugs, such as ketoconazole, econazole, terbinafine and so on.
For patients with folliculitis, they should go to a regular hospital and use medication under the guidance of a doctor to avoid unauthorized use of drugs. It should be noted that some patients may experience nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea and other adverse reactions during the use of clindamycin, and the drug is contraindicated for patients with a history of allergy to clindamycin and lincomycin.
