Formulation of Zhenwu Tang for Kidney Disease

The formula of Zhen Wu Tang for Kidney Disease is Poria, Paeoniae Alba, Ginger, Radix Polygoni Multiflori and Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae.
In the formula, Radix Polygoni Multiflori warms the Kidneys and helps Yang to transform Qi and move water (promoting the movement of gases and thus the movement of water), and also warms the Spleen and Earth to warm and move water-dampness. Poria lubricates water and seeps away dampness (promoting the movement of water to dispel dampness), so that the water evil can be removed from the urine and stools.
Atractylodes Macrocephalae strengthens the spleen and dries dampness, and is accompanied by the warmth and dispersal of ginger, which not only helps to warm yang and disperse cold, but also combines ling and atractylodes to disperse water-dampness. Paeonia lactiflora facilitates urination in order to move water, softens the liver and eases the urgency to stop abdominal pain, converges the yin and soothes the tendons in order to relieve the twitching of the tendons and muscles, and prevents the dryness and heat of appendicitis from injuring the yin.
Zhen Wu Tang has the effect of warming yang and inducing diuresis (replenishing yang qi in the body and promoting the circulation of water and fluid). It can be used to treat Yang deficiency and water flooding (impaired water flow in the body caused by Yang deficiency).
Zhen Wu Tang can treat cold fear and limb syncope, dysuria (unsmooth urination), palpitation and restlessness under the heart, dizziness, twitching of body tendons and muscles, unsteadiness, heavy and painful limbs, swelling below the waist, abdominal pain, diarrhea, coughing and vomiting, and other conditions. Its contraindications, precautions and adverse reactions are not clear.
