What’s wrong with tingling in your hands when you fall asleep?

Sleeping hand numbness may be physiological factors, but also may be the manifestation of certain diseases, such as peripheral neuritis, cervical spondylosis, carpal tunnel syndrome and other causes.
1. Physiological factors: if you sleep for a long time to keep a sleeping position fixed, may be due to prolonged compression of the arm, resulting in poor local blood circulation in the hand, which in turn caused by sleeping hand numbness.
2. Pathologic factors:
(1) peripheral neuritis: usually due to poisoning, infection, nutritional and metabolic disorders and other reasons, causing inflammatory reaction of the finger nerve endings, which can be manifested as abnormal sensation of the fingers, numbness, and can also occur at night during sleep.
(2) Cervical spondylosis: It can be caused by the compression of cervical vertebrae during night sleep. Due to cervical spine hyperplasia or cervical disc degeneration with herniation will compress the cervical nerve root, resulting in irritation of the nerves in the hand, such as numbness, pain, and numbness of the fingers unilaterally or bilaterally during sleep.
(3) Carpal Tunnel Syndrome: It is the most common peripheral nerve entrapment disease. Due to the entrapment of the median nerve in the carpal tunnel of the wrist, it causes sensory abnormality or numbness on the radial side of the median innervated area, including the thumb, forefinger, middle finger and ring finger. The first symptom is usually tingling in the fingers during sleep, which can be relieved by changing position or shaking the hand.
In addition to the above factors, the numbness of the hand while asleep may also be caused by other reasons, it is recommended to consult a doctor in a timely manner to clarify the cause of the targeted treatment.
