Symptoms of an epiglottis cyst often vary depending on the size of the cyst, and can cause symptoms such as foreign body sensation, pain, and breathlessness in the larynx. Smaller epiglottis cysts are often asymptomatic and are only detected during laryngoscopy. A few patients may have a foreign body sensation. Larger epiglottis cysts can cause a foreign body sensation in the throat or discomfort in swallowing, and some patients may experience coughing. When the cyst continues to grow, it can block the larynx, causing patients, especially infants and young children, to wheeze and suffer from breathlessness. In severe cases, laryngeal obstruction or asphyxiation may even occur, which needs to be taken seriously. At present, epiglottis cysts are mainly treated by surgery, and the prognosis is generally good and not easy to recur. If there is any discomfort, it is recommended to consult a doctor in time for diagnosis and treatment.
