How long does it take to recover from an inflamed sebaceous cyst with incision and drainage?

Sebaceous cysts are formed due to obstruction of sebaceous ducts which leads to impaired sebaceous gland drainage. How long it takes to recover from an inflamed sebaceous cyst with incision and drainage is determined by the location of the lesion. The head and face usually recover in about a week, and the limbs and trunk in about two weeks.
Most sebaceous cysts are asymptomatic and do not require special treatment, but when the lesion is large or infected, treatment is needed, and the sebaceous glands can be removed and the purulent secretions can be incised and drained. Because of the rich blood circulation in the head and face, the wound can recover in about one week, and the wound in the trunk or limbs can recover in about two weeks.
After incision and drainage, regular dressing changes and other treatments are needed, and antibiotics such as amoxicillin and cefaclor are taken.
