Yellow urine is not necessarily high uric acid. There is no direct relationship between the color of urine and the level of uric acid, and it is not possible to determine the level of uric acid by the color of urine. The yellow color of urine is mostly caused by drinking too little water, which leads to the concentration of urine, consuming certain foods with pigment such as carrots, or taking certain medications. Certain pathologic factors can also lead to yellow urine, such as biliary obstruction and bile duct cancer. Uric acid is a purine metabolite and is processed by the kidneys and excreted in the urine. Clinically, high or low uric acid is mainly checked by blood test to see the level of blood uric acid. High uric acid is mostly seen in hyperuricemia, gout and other diseases. Although yellow urine is not related to high uric acid, but due to some pathological factors can also cause yellow urine, it is recommended to go to the hospital for appropriate examination when physiological factors leading to yellow urine are ruled out.
