Should I keep taking febuxostat for gout attacks?

When an acute attack of gout occurs, if you have been taking febuxostat for a long time to lower uric acid treatment, you need to continue to take it, so as to avoid excessive fluctuations in blood uric acid triggered by stopping or reducing the dosage of the drug, which will prolong the duration of gouty attacks.
Gout is a heterogeneous group of diseases caused by purine metabolism disorders and/or uric acid excretion disorders. When blood uric acid is too high, urate crystals are deposited in the joints and surrounding tissues, triggering an inflammatory response.
For the acute phase of gout, active anti-inflammatory, analgesic symptomatic treatment is needed to reduce the inflammatory response of the joints, and uric acid-lowering treatment is generally not carried out. However, if you are already taking uric acid-lowering drugs such as Febuxostat, you do not need to stop or reduce the dosage, so as not to cause fluctuations in blood uric acid, resulting in prolonged gouty attacks or triggering another gouty attack.
Patients with gouty attacks are advised to go to the rheumatology and immunology departments of regular hospitals for detailed consultation and standardized treatment as prescribed by doctors.
