Thrush is clinically referred to as acute pseudomembranous Candida stomatitis, and is most commonly seen in infants and young children who are irritable, cry, and have difficulty nursing. Typical clinical manifestations are small soft spots of white color like snow scattered on the oral mucosa. 1. Acute pseudomembranous Candida stomatitis is most common in infants and young children, also known as thrush or snow mouth disease. Children are irritable, cry, have difficulty breastfeeding, sometimes have mild fever, and the systemic reaction is generally mild. 2. Thrush occurs on the lips, cheeks, soft palate and tongue, with congestion of the mucous membranes in the damaged area, and scattered soft spots as white as snow, such as the size of a hat pinhead.
