Does a concussion require hospitalization?

Most concussions do not require hospitalization and bed rest for 1 to 2 weeks is usually sufficient. However, if the clinical symptoms are severe, or even accompanied by delayed hemorrhage, hospitalization is required.
1. Most concussions are mild, and if the patient’s condition is stable, the clinical symptoms are not serious, and he or she is usually in good health, he or she can go home and recuperate on his or her own, as determined by the doctor. For example, bed rest, maintain balanced nutrition, and get enough sleep.
2. Simple concussion usually does not require hospitalization, but if the symptoms continue to be unrelieved, in order to exclude delayed intracranial hematoma, post-traumatic subdural effusion and other diseases, hospitalization is required for examination and treatment.
It is recommended that patients with concussion should seek timely medical treatment and be actively diagnosed and treated under the guidance of a doctor.
