What if your heart rate is below 40?

A heart rate of less than 40 beats per minute is a more serious form of bradycardia, which can usually be improved by applying medication or implanting a pacemaker.
1. Application of drugs: The heart rate of healthy adults at rest should be in the range of 60-100 beats per minute, if the heart rate is lower than 60 beats per minute, it is considered bradycardia. If the patient is accompanied by palpitations, chest tightness, panic and other symptoms, the patient can apply drugs to increase the heart rate under the guidance of the doctor, such as injecting atropine or isoprenaline.
2. Implantation of pacemaker: If the patient has bradycardia caused by sinus node dysfunction or atrioventricular block of second degree or above, the implantation of a pacemaker can be considered to keep the heart rate in the appropriate range to avoid complications and reduce the occurrence of sudden death and heart failure.
Heart rate lower than 40 beats per minute may also be seen for other reasons, it is recommended to go to the hospital in time to do the relevant examination, so as not to delay the condition.
