Mild to moderate enhancement of lung nodules is not necessarily lung cancer.
Enhancement of lung nodules refers to the density of the nodules shown by intensifiers on imaging, suggesting blood supply within the nodules. Enhanced lung nodules are not necessarily lung cancer. Mild enhancement can also be seen in certain infectious diseases, in which case the site of enhancement and the form of enhancement will vary. The degree of enhancement may also vary for nodules with different tumor blood supplies.
Intensification of lung cancer nodules is usually non-uniform and the intensity of intensification can be inconsistent. In addition, there are different manifestations of nodal enhancement such as peripheral enhancement and central enhancement, and the timing of enhancement will also be different. For example, the enhancement of nodules with vascular malformations may change dynamically.
