Contraindications of Er Chen Tang include: Yin deficiency and dry cough with blood in the phlegm should not apply this formula.
Er Chen Tang is from “Taiping Huimin Hejie Bian Fang”, which is an expectorant. In the formula, Semixia and Tangerine are used as the base structure for drying dampness and transforming phlegm (expelling dampness and dissolving phlegm by drying dampness), and Poria, which strengthens the spleen and seeps out dampness, Ginger, which helps Semixia to harmonize with stomach and stop vomiting, and Wulumei, which astringes the lung qi, and finally, Licorice is used for the harmony of the medicines (harmonizing the properties of different Chinese medicines).
Er Chen Tang is effective in regulating qi and neutralizing the middle (regulating the qi of the spleen and stomach to make the spleen and stomach function smoothly), drying dampness and resolving phlegm.
Er Chen Tang is mainly used to treat phlegm-dampness syndrome, with common symptoms such as nausea and vomiting, cough with excessive phlegm, limb heaviness (limb weakness and heaviness), dizziness and palpitation, etc. It can also be used to treat chronic gastritis or bronchitis with phlegm-dampness, neurotic vomiting and other diseases. This formula is dry in nature, and should not be applied to those with yin deficiency and dry cough with blood in sputum. The adverse effects of this product are not clear.
