Can you just stop taking your medication for depression?

Medication for depression should not be stopped at random. The treatment of depression includes psychotherapy, drug therapy (sertraline, fluoxetine, etc.), physical therapy (such as transcranial magnetic stimulation, biofeedback treatment). The use of antidepressant medication for depression needs to be regulated under the guidance of a professional physician in sufficient quantity and course of treatment to minimize the recurrence rate of depression. Depressed patients who are treated with antidepressant drugs, casually stopping and reducing the drug on their own may lead to withdrawal reactions (panic, insomnia, fidgeting, etc.), and may also lead to relapse or aggravation of the condition. Drugs for depression should not be discontinued or reduced on their own, and need to be prescribed by a doctor.
