What is subacute lupus erythematosus?

Subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus is one of the types of lupus erythematosus. Lupus erythematosus can be categorized into cutaneous lupus erythematosus and systemic lupus erythematosus according to its histopathological features and clinical manifestations, among which cutaneous lupus erythematosus can be divided into acute cutaneous lupus erythematosus, subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus and chronic cutaneous lupus erythematosus, and subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus is the relatively rare type of lupus erythematosus. Subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus can involve the skin and internal organs of the patient, but compared with SLE, the condition of patients with subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus is usually not serious, and patients often suffer from rash, fever, arthralgia, mouth ulcers, and plasmacythema, and about half of the patients meet the diagnostic criteria of SLE, but severe kidney and central nervous system involvement is rare.
