How long to recover from coughing after lobectomy

Coughing after lobectomy usually recovers in 1~2 weeks, but if it is combined with infection, it will take 2~4 weeks or even longer.
Coughing after lobectomy is due to the anesthesia and surgical procedures that cause some damage to the trachea, bronchial tubes, and lung tissues, such as airway damage from anesthesia intubation, and surgical removal of the lobes of the lungs. Usually within 1~2 weeks, as the tissue gradually recovers, the coughing symptom can be relieved on its own.
However, if there is a lung infection, anti-infection treatment is needed, which usually takes 1~2 weeks to control the infection, and another 1~2 weeks for gradual recovery, so it may take 2~4 weeks for full recovery.
If coughing occurs after lobectomy, it is recommended to follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment and rehabilitation exercises in order to reach a normal state as soon as possible.
