Hand peeling may be chronic eczema, tinea cruris, exfoliative keratolysis, with topical and systemic medications.
1. Chronic eczema: this is a chronic inflammatory skin reaction that develops from acute eczema, and will show rough, hypertrophied, scratched and scaly skin.
It can be treated with mometasone furoate cream, hydrocortisone butyrate cream, and after the condition is stabilized, tacrolimus ointment and pimecrolimus cream. Normally, you can use common moisturizing emollient cream to apply, you can also choose petroleum jelly, vitamin E cream and so on to apply.
2. Ringworm: Dermatophytes infecting the skin of the hands, such as Trichophyton spp. and Microsporum spp. can lead to peeling and drying of the hands. You can apply ketoconazole cream, terbinafine cream, and if the peeling is severe, you can combine salicylic acid and coal tar agent to treat it. If the course of the disease is relatively long, you can also take oral terbinafine, itraconazole full course of treatment.
3. Exfoliative keratolysis: the cause of the disease is not completely clear, may be associated with dermatophyte infections, hand off the skin like thin paper-like scales. You can apply urea ointment, vitamin E ointment to soften the stratum corneum, and for the more severe cases, you can use Vitamin A acid cream or low concentration (1%-3%) salicylic acid ointment and so on.
