Ring enhancement is not always malignant. It is just more common in malignant tumors. However, ring enhancement can also be the result of infections, demyelinating diseases, etc. Circumferential enhancement means that after imaging, a ring of contrast coagulation is found around the lesion, indicating a rich blood supply in this area. Circumferential enhancement is not necessarily malignant. Circumferential enhancement may be associated with tumors, infections, demyelinating disorders, and so on. Just among tumors, malignant gliomas are more common. It could also be a benign tumor such as a meningioma, or an infection and demyelinating disease caused by a brain abscess or fungal infection. Additional tests, such as a puncture biopsy, are needed to clarify the cause and then treat the symptoms.
