There is no difference between raw and prepared Yuanzhi in terms of their efficacy and there is no difference between good and bad. Yuanzhi has the efficacy of tranquilizing the mind, dispelling phlegm and opening the orifices, and dispersing carbuncles and swellings, and is often classified into raw Yuanzhi and prepared Yuanzhi for clinical use. Generally speaking, raw Yuanzhi has the effects of tranquilizing the mind and benefiting the intellect (stabilizing the mind and promoting intellectual development), dispelling phlegm and subduing swellings, while prepared Yuanzhi is more inclined to tranquilizing the mind and calming the intellect. Which one to use is based on the doctor’s diagnosis. Yuanzhi is warm in nature, pungent and bitter in flavor, and its effects are mainly to calm the mind, eliminate swelling and dispel phlegm. In the clinic, Yuanzhi is often divided into two categories: raw and prepared. Raw farzhi is the original herbs through a simple impurity, sliced, directly into the medicine, the main effect is to tranquilize the spirit and benefit the intellect, dispel phlegm, and eliminate swelling. It is mostly used for treating forgetfulness and palpitations, insomnia and excessive dreaming, trance, as well as some coughing and phlegm disorders, breast swelling and pain caused by heart-kidney dysfunction (heart-fire exuberance, kidney yin deficiency, and dysfunction of the physiological functions of the heart and kidneys). Prepared Yuanzhi is made by soaking raw Yuanzhi in licorice decoction for a certain period of time, and then fished out and dried in the sun for use in medicine, which has a softer efficacy and is more suitable for treating palpitations and insomnia, as it is more effective in calming the mind and tranquillizing the spirit. The efficacy of the two focus on different, clinical use is not good or bad, the specific use of a professional doctor according to the actual condition of the use of evidence, not blindly use.
