Surgical approach to advanced peritoneal cancer

Surgery for advanced peritoneal cancer needs to be determined by the individual’s specific situation and disease staging. Surgical methods include tumor cytoreduction with total peritoneal resection combined with organ removal. Tumor cytoreduction for peritoneal cancer is a surgery for large tumors, which cannot be completely removed, to reduce symptoms by removing part of the tumor, and to reduce the pressure produced by the tumor in order to reduce the tumor load. The indications for this surgery are large and irregular mass in the pelvis of advanced ovarian cancer, extensive implantation metastasis in pelvic peritoneum, implantation metastatic cancer foci in tissues and organs in the abdominal cavity, including the greater omentum, peritoneum, or substantial infiltration of organs and there is no contraindication to surgery. Advanced peritoneal cancer needs to seek medical treatment as soon as possible, and choose the treatment plan according to the patient’s specific situation under the guidance of doctors to avoid further aggravation of cancer.
