There are many differences between the first stage of labor the second stage of labor and the third stage of labor, and the three processes are a progression of labor. The first stage of labor is divided into two phases: latent and active. During the latent phase, contractions gradually intensify and the opening of the uterus expands slowly, usually no more than 20 hours for primigravid women and no more than 14 hours for transient women. The active period is the accelerated stage of uterine dilatation, which can enter the active period when the uterine opening reaches 4~5cm, or 6cm at the latest, until the uterine opening is complete (10cm). At this time, family members should accompany the mother to encourage and care for her, and supplement food in time to ensure that she has enough energy. The second stage of labor takes 2 hours on average from the opening of the uterus to the delivery of the fetus. During contractions, you will have an involuntary bowel movement, learn how to hold your breath and push downward correctly during contractions, and mobilize your rectus abdominis and rectus anus to help the fetus to be delivered smoothly, and cooperate with the doctor for the smooth delivery of the fetus. The third stage of labor starts from the delivery of the fetus to the delivery of the placenta. After the delivery of the fetus, the placenta will be removed. Under the supervision of the doctor, the placenta is usually removed within 30 minutes. The placenta is checked for the integrity of the membranes, the perineum is sutured, and the patient is admitted to the postpartum observation room.
