Cao Cao Root, i.e. leucaena leucocephala root, is sweet in flavor and cold in nature. It belongs to lung, stomach and bladder meridians. It has the effects of cooling blood, stopping bleeding, clearing heat and inducing diuresis. It is mainly used in treating blood-heat, vomiting blood, epistaxis, blood in urine, fever and thirst, damp-heat jaundice, edema and urination, and hot gonorrhea (burning and stinging pain when urinating, accompanied by frequent urination and urgency, and discomfort of pulling in the abdomen) and astringent pain, and so on.
Lotus root nodule taste sweet, astringent, flat. Attributed to the liver, lung, stomach meridian. It has the efficacy of stopping bleeding by astringency (using drugs with astringent effect to treat bleeding conditions) and resolving blood stasis. It is mainly used in the treatment of vomiting blood, hemoptysis, epistaxis, urinating blood, and metrorrhagia (excessive menstrual flow or dripping).
The active ingredients precipitated from boiled water of the drug are relatively small, its efficacy and effect are limited, and it cannot replace the treatment of diseases with medicines.
