It can be used for the treatment of qi deficiency and yin deficiency, deficiency of heat and fatigue, coughing, phlegm and blood, internal heat and thirst (internal heat accompanied by symptoms such as eating, drinking and urinating), dry mouth and throat and other diseases.
Radix Panax Ginseng is the dried root of Panax Ginseng, family Wujiaceae, which is sweet, slightly bitter, cool in nature, and belongs to the lung, heart and kidney meridians, with the effects of tonifying qi and nourishing yin, clearing away heat and generating fluids, and it can be used for the treatment of deficiency of qi and yin, deficiency and heat, coughing, asthma, phlegm and blood, internal heat and thirst and dryness of the mouth and throat, etc. It is not recommended to combine with Panax Ginseng. It should be noted that American ginseng should not be used with quassia. Its adverse effects are not clear.
Clinically, Radix Panax Ginseng is often used with Fructus Schisandrae chinensis, Fructus Schisandrae chinensis, Radix et Rhizoma Ginseng to treat dry cough with little sputum, chest tightness and shortness of breath, dry mouth and throat caused by deficiency of yin and lung heat, and can be used with Radix Cucurbitacae Sinensis, Radix et Rhizoma Ophiopogonis, Dendrobium officinale, to treat fever and sweat of the body with heat and fluids injury of the stomach, thirst and heartburn, short and reddish urination, and tiredness and low qi.
