Is it common for a tooth to have a broken root canal needle

Broken needle, also known as instrument separation, one of the complications of root canal treatment, with a low clinical incidence.
Common treatments: ultrasonic vibration, surgical microscopy in dentistry, formation of bypass, and follow-up. Broken pins in the root canal are different from surgical broken pins left in the body, because the root canal is a closed system, the broken pins will be fixed and remain in the root canal and will not flow with the blood.
It was found that 93% of the pulp extracted teeth and 83% of the infected teeth after root canal treatment had a good outcome when the broken needle was not removed. Therefore, broken pins in the root canal can be observed and left untreated when they do not cause periapical lesions or acute symptoms. After the appearance of clinical symptoms, apical surgical treatment can be chosen, which can also achieve good results.
If needle breakage occurs during root canal treatment, it is recommended to fully communicate with the attending physician for the next step.
