Flat feet can be treated conservatively or surgically. Flat foot is a kind of foot deformity in which the arch of the foot disappears or is low and flat, which may be caused by congenital maldevelopment of the bone structure of the foot, and may also be caused by acquired factors such as long-term weight-bearing standing, long-term illness bedridden, improper shoes, and so on, which can cause the longitudinal arch of the foot to be damaged or the arch of the foot to be sunken. It is suggested that patients with mild symptoms should avoid standing for a long period of time with heavy loads, avoid wearing ill-fitting shoes, and pay attention to strengthening the strength of the plantar muscles, etc. Conservative treatment can also be carried out by wearing foot aids or arch pads, so as to prevent or correct flat feet through the above methods. If it is difficult to alleviate the symptoms through conservative treatment, patients with severe deformity can be treated with surgery such as talar fusion, osteotomy with internal displacement of bone or triple-joint fusion. After the appearance of flat feet, it is recommended that patients go to the hospital in time and follow the doctor’s instructions for examination and treatment.
