Whether hospitalization is required for the placement of a t-tube after bile-intestinal anastomosis and removal of the t-tube needs to be analyzed specifically based on the patient’s condition. If the patient has bile duct stenosis or develops bile duct stones, hospitalization is required; if there are no bile duct stones or bile duct stenosis, etc., hospitalization may not be necessary. The purpose of placing a T-tube in patients undergoing biliary and intestinal surgery is mainly to drain bile and support the bile ducts. Before removing the T-tube, a routine abdominal ultrasound or abdominal CT examination is needed, mainly to see whether the patient has bile duct stones or whether there is bile duct stenosis. If the patient has recurrence of bile duct stones or bile duct stenosis, hospitalization is required for T-tube removal; otherwise, the T-tube can be removed directly on an outpatient basis without hospitalization. Patients should go to the hospital if they have any discomfort, and should not be careless so as not to delay treatment.
