Long-term wearing earplugs may have a certain effect on the ear, easy to cause otitis externa, noise damage, ear canal pressure and pain.
1. Otitis externa: long-term earplugs stimulate diffuse inflammation of the skin and subcutaneous tissues of the external auditory canal, mild skin congestion can be seen in mild cases, and in severe cases, there is obvious pain in the external auditory canal, sometimes accompanied by fluid exudation.
2. Noise damage: wearing earplugs for a long time and repeatedly stimulating the inner ear may cause sound-sensing system disorders, leading to hearing loss, and even tinnitus discomfort.
3. Ear canal pressure and pain: the outer ear canal subcutaneous tissue is less, close to the cartilage, long-term earplugs can easily lead to local pressure and this sensory nerves, resulting in significant pressure and pain in the ear canal.
Therefore, it is not recommended to wear earplugs for a long time.
