The difference between a floating pulse and a sinking pulse

Floating pulse and Sinking pulse can be differentiated by the depth of the pulse and the significance of the pulse.
1. The depth of the Floating Pulse: The Floating Pulse can be felt by gently pressing with the hand, but the feeling will gradually diminish as the strength increases. Sinking pulse is deeper and cannot be felt by gently touching it, but must be slightly exerted to feel the pulse.
2. The significance of the pulse: floating pulse is mostly seen in external surface syndrome (mainly manifested as respiratory symptoms after feeling external evils), the early stage of certain acute febrile illnesses, and deficiency yang floating over the evidence. Sinking pulse is often seen in the internal evidence, strong pulse represents the internal solid evidence, weak pulse represents the internal deficiency evidence.
Chinese medicine emphasizes the importance of looking, listening, questioning and cutting, and the combination of the four diagnostic methods. You can’t diagnose a disease with a single pulse. If you are not feeling well, you should consult a doctor in time to avoid delaying your condition.
