What are the types of peripheral retinal degeneration

Retinal periphery with degeneration is classified as a fundus disease. Retinal, vitreous and choroidal diseases are all fundus diseases, and retinal peripheral degeneration is one of the more common fundus diseases. There are many different types of degeneration, including lattice-like degeneration of the retinal periphery, dry fissures, and pigmentary degeneration. In peripheral retinal degeneration, patients usually do not have obvious symptoms. Instead, they can be detected by a detailed fundus examination. Prompt treatment, such as fundus laser treatment to close the degeneration zone, is usually required, otherwise, the degeneration zone may continue to shrink, and then form a retinal tear, which may lead to retinal detachment. After treatment, the patient should also undergo regular checkups, mainly to find out whether there are any new areas of degeneration, and if there are any, they need to be closed in time.
