Shivering in babies with fever is associated with hypernatremia, febrile convulsions, and meningitis.
1. Hypernatremia: Fever may lead to imbalance of water processing in the body and relative increase of plasma effective osmolality, inducing hypernatremia. Common symptoms of patients with hypernatremia include agitation, malaise, irritability, nausea and vomiting, muscle tremors, and even drowsiness and coma.
2. Febrile convulsions: The etiology and pathogenesis of febrile convulsions are complex and may be related to genetic factors and pathogen infection. Febrile convulsions are often accompanied by muscle twitching and dystonic changes at the beginning of fever or during the period of rapid increase in body temperature, so the baby will have fever and shivering.
3. Meningitis: Meningitis is related to enterovirus, Streptococcus pneumoniae and other pathogenic microbial infections. Some babies will have fever and shivering because of the central nervous system damage and brain damage caused by the disease, which is easily accompanied by other symptoms such as neck straightening, vomiting, impaired consciousness and restlessness.
There may be other reasons for the baby’s fever and shivering, it is recommended to go to the hospital in a timely manner, improve the examination to clarify the cause of the disease, under the guidance of the doctor to give targeted treatment or treatment.
