What causes poor embryo quality

Poor embryo quality may be related to bad habits, chromosomal abnormalities, endocrine abnormalities and other factors.
1. Bad habits: If the pregnant woman has bad behaviors such as smoking, alcoholism, or if the pregnant woman has been exposed to toxic and harmful substances, it may affect the quality of the embryo.
2. Chromosomal abnormality: if both husband and wife have chromosomal problems, it may cause bad quality of embryo. But even if the chromosomes of both husband and wife are normal, the embryo may have duplication or loss of chromosomes in the process of formation, which may lead to poor quality of embryo.
3. Endocrine abnormalities: endocrine factors, such as luteal insufficiency, resulting in the luteal gland secretion of progesterone is not enough to support the development of the embryo, resulting in poor quality embryos.
If poor embryo quality is found during labor and delivery examination, it is recommended to follow the doctor’s advice to preserve the fetus or terminate the pregnancy.
