Conservative treatment for patients with old anal fissure may require continuous medication for 1~2 weeks, and the exact time is closely related to the patient’s condition.
For patients with old anal fissure, those with relatively mild condition may get better in about 1 week after taking conservative treatment; however, for some patients with relatively serious condition, the duration of conservative treatment and continuous medication may be about 2 weeks or even longer. Therefore, the duration of medication should be determined according to the patient’s condition and cannot be generalized.
During the conservative treatment period, in addition to adhering to the medication prescribed by the doctor, patients with preserved anal fissure should strengthen the perianal skin care and try to wear loose, pure cotton underwear. Patients with old anal fissure should also pay attention to the reasonableness of diet, eat more fresh fruits and vegetables, and prevent constipation.
It is recommended that patients with old anal fissure should be treated with medication under the guidance of a physician, and should also consult a doctor regularly for review, and should not use drugs or prescriptions indiscriminately on their own.
