Absolute neutrophil value refers to the neutrophil content in the white blood cell count, and the normal value is (1.8~6.3)×10^9/L. Absolute neutrophil value of 17×10^9/L represents neutrophilia.
The causes of neutrophilia are categorized into pathological and physiological factors, as follows:
1. Pathological factors: including infectious diseases such as pneumonia, sepsis, peritonitis, parasitic infections, fungal infections, viral infections; severe trauma, large burns and other tissue injuries; blood disorders such as leukemia, myeloproliferative disorders and so on; malignant tumors such as hepatocellular carcinoma, gastric cancer and so on.
2. Physiological factors: including taking glucocorticoid (prednisone) and other drugs; emotional excitement; strenuous exercise, etc. can cause a transient increase in neutrophils.
There may be other reasons for elevated neutrophils, so it is recommended to go to a regular hospital for consultation, to clarify the causes of elevated neutrophils under the guidance of a physician, and to carry out treatment according to the causes of the disease.
