The fruit is the fruit of the wild peony plant, Dizhen, which belongs to the Chinese herbal medicine, sweet in flavor and warm in nature. It belongs to kidney meridian, liver meridian and spleen meridian. It can be used for qi deficiency, blood deficiency and atrophy, disintegration (excessive menstrual flow or dribbling), excessive menstruation, fetal restlessness, prolapse of the anus, yin ting (prolapse of the uterus in women or even prolapse out of the vaginal opening), and so on. It is used as a decoction to be taken internally, or as an infusion in wine.
