American ginseng is the dried root of American ginseng, which is a plant of the family Wujiaceae, with a fresh smell and strong flavor, sweet, slightly bitter and cool in nature, belonging to the heart, lung and kidney meridians, with the effect of clearing away heat and nourishing yin, tonifying the qi and generating fluids.
Radix Panax Ginseng can be used to treat deficiency of qi and yin caused by deficiency of qi and yin, such as deficiency heat and tiredness, coughing, wheezing, phlegm and blood, internal heat and thirst (internal heat accompanied by symptoms such as eating more, drinking more and urinating more), dry mouth and pharynx, lack of qi and laziness (lack of strength, not wanting to talk), heartburn and thirst, body heat and sweating, and other symptoms.
Note that American ginseng should not be used with quassia.
