Jujube and Colla Corii Asini Lotus Root Soup has certain effects of tonifying the middle, nourishing blood and stopping bleeding.
Red jujube is the dried mature fruit of jujube, family Rhamnaceae. It is sweet in flavor and warm in nature. It belongs to the spleen, stomach and heart meridians. It can tonify the middle and benefit qi (treating qi deficiency by tonifying the spleen), nourish blood and calm the mind. It is used for spleen deficiency with low food intake, loose stools (scanty and unformed feces), and women’s dirty agitation (upset and depression, sadness and wanting to cry for no reason).
Colla Corii Asini is a solid gum made from the dried or fresh skin of donkey, family Equidae, by decoction and concentration. It is sweet in flavor and flat in nature. Attributed to the lung, liver, kidney meridian. It can tonify blood and nourish yin, moisten dryness and stop bleeding. It can be used for blood deficiency, dizziness, palpitations, impotence, insomnia, deficiency wind, coughing, coughing with dryness of lungs, hemoptysis, vomiting and urinating blood, hematemesis (excessive menstruation or dripping), and fetal leakage in pregnancy (small amount of vaginal bleeding in early pregnancy).
Lotus root powder is made from ground lotus root, sweet and astringent in flavor, and flat in nature. It belongs to the liver, lung and stomach meridians. It can stop bleeding by astringency (using drugs with astringent properties to treat bleeding conditions) and dissolve blood stasis. It is used in treating hematemesis, hemoptysis, epistaxis, uraemia and metrorrhagia.
