What’s that lump under your ear and on your neck?

Lumps below the ear on the neck can be considered to be related to parotid gland lumps, retroauricular lymphadenitis, retroauricular sebaceous cysts and other diseases.
1. Parotid gland mass: including benign and malignant tumors originated from parotid tissue, there may be no obvious symptoms in the early stage, which need to be combined with ultrasound, puncture biopsy and other tests to clarify, and need surgical treatment.
2. Post-auricular lymphadenitis: Inflammatory stimulation of the nasal cavity and middle ear cavity may involve the lymph nodes behind the ear, resulting in lymph node enlargement. Physical examination may reveal that the lumps are more regular in shape, spherical, with better mobility and accompanied by pressure and pain sensation.
3. Sebaceous cysts behind the ear: sebaceous cysts are formed when the skin follicles behind the ear are blocked and expanded, and the lumps are regular in shape, moderately hard, not easy to push, and sometimes accompanied by infections.
There may be other reasons for the lumps below the ear and on the neck, so you need to consult an otorhinolaryngologist to clarify the cause of the lumps and treat them according to the doctor’s instructions.
