Thyroid nodules may require a thyroid 7.
The thyroid 7 is generally referred to as the thyroid pentathlon (including triiodothyronine, free triiodothyronine, total thyroxine, free thyroxine, and thyroid stimulating hormone), and thyroid antibodies (including antithyroid peroxidase antibodies and antithyroglobulin antibodies).
Patients with thyroid nodules often have a combination of thyroid dysfunction, such as hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism, so a complete 7-item thyroid function test may be needed to determine if both thyroid dysfunction and autoimmune thyroid disease are present.
Patients diagnosed with thyroid nodules can visit a hospital and ask their doctor to determine if a thyroid 7 test is needed.
