Yuanhu is the dried tuber of the poppy plant Yanhuisuo. It is pungent, bitter and warm in nature. It belongs to liver and spleen meridians. It can activate blood circulation, move qi and relieve pain. It is used for chest (chest and rib area), epigastric (stomach and abdomen) pain, thoracic paralysis (chest pain), heart pain, dysmenorrhea, postpartum stasis, swelling and pain.
Panax quinquefolium is the dried root and rhizome of Panax quinquefolium of the family Wujiaceae. It is sweet, slightly bitter and warm in nature. It belongs to liver and stomach meridians. It can dissipate blood stasis, stop bleeding, and eliminate swelling and pain. It is used for hemoptysis, hematemesis, epistaxis, hematochezia, metrorrhagia (excessive menstrual flow or dribbling), traumatic bleeding, stabbing pain in the chest and abdomen, and swelling and pain in stumbling.
Patients are advised to use the medicine under the guidance of a doctor and should not take the medicine by themselves to avoid delaying the condition.
