Chronic bronchitis generally refers to chronic bronchitis. Chronic bronchitis is diagnosed primarily on the basis of symptoms and cannot be diagnosed solely on the basis of a chest CT. Chronic bronchitis is a chronic non-specific inflammation of the trachea, bronchial mucosa and its surrounding tissues. Its diagnosis is mainly based on clinical symptoms, which are cough, sputum or wheezing, with onset lasting 3 months per year for 2 or more years, and exclusion of other chronic diseases that can cause similar symptoms. Chest CT imaging of chronic bronchitis is mainly characterized by thickened and disorganized lung texture, reticular or striated, speckled shadows, and so on. Because chronic bronchitis chest CT performance is not specific, so can not rely on chest CT to confirm the diagnosis. However, chest CT can exclude other diseases that cause cough, sputum or wheezing symptoms, such as bronchiectasis, lung cancer, idiopathic fibrosis and other diseases. It is recommended that patients with chronic bronchitis consult a doctor for a definitive diagnosis and treatment.
