The statement of 10 symptoms of emphysema in the late stage is inaccurate. The common symptoms of emphysema in the late stage are coughing, coughing up sputum, dyspnea, wheezing, emaciation, as well as the symptoms caused by complications of respiratory failure and pulmonary heart disease.
1. Cough and sputum: Coughing is obvious in the morning and paroxysmal cough or sputum at night. Sputum is usually white mucus, occasionally with blood. The amount of sputum increases during acute attacks, and there may be purulent sputum.
2. Difficulty in breathing and wheezing: Early manifestation of dyspnea after activity, advanced emphysema patients may also have wheezing and dyspnea when resting.
3. Emaciation: patients with advanced emphysema suffer from severe oxygen deprivation, prolonged bed rest, low activity level and poor diet, which may easily affect the normal digestion and absorption ability and lead to emaciation.
4. Respiratory failure: the respiratory function of patients with advanced emphysema is seriously impaired, and they are prone to respiratory failure, which manifests as dyspnea, coughing, bruising, headache and so on.
5. Pulmonary heart disease: Pulmonary heart disease can cause palpitations, lack of appetite, abdominal distension, nausea and other symptoms.
If emphysema is diagnosed, early and standardized treatment is recommended to slow down the progression of the disease.
