Tuberculous pleurisy can be tested with the ppd reagent, and a positive result after the ppd reagent can indicate Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection.
The ppd test is a tuberculin test, in which a certain concentration of tuberculin is injected into the skin in the middle of the palm side of the forearm, and the result is observed after 72 hours, which is a kind of early auxiliary diagnosis for determining tuberculosis infection. Generally speaking, a strong positive result indicates active tuberculosis in the body, and a positive result indicates a previous tuberculosis infection or a previous BCG vaccination.
Tuberculous pleurisy is caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection of the pleura. The ppd test is usually strongly positive, but further imaging studies are needed to further clarify the presence of tuberculous pleurisy.
Once the diagnosis of tuberculosis pleurisy is confirmed, treatment should be carried out actively according to the doctor’s instructions to avoid delaying the condition.
