What is the status of tuberculous pleurisy when cured?

Tuberculous pleurisy can mostly be cured after regular treatment, and symptoms such as cough, sputum and chest pain can disappear completely. Generally, there is no after-effects.
The treatment of tuberculous pleurisy includes fluid extraction and anti-tuberculosis treatment. The pleural fluid should be extracted slowly and repeatedly to avoid pulmonary edema, etc. The general course of treatment is 3 weeks. Anti-tuberculosis treatment has a longer course, usually six months to one year. During this process, symptoms such as coughing, sputum and chest pain may gradually decrease until they disappear.
If the treatment is not complete, complications such as bronchopleural fistula or pleural thickening can occur, and unstandardized treatment can also develop into chronic encapsulated pleurisy, or even tuberculous pyothorax, which will eventually require surgical treatment, and the prognosis becomes worse.
