What is the difference between a double lumen stoma and a single lumen

The difference between double-lumen stoma and single-lumen stoma is mainly reflected in whether the intestinal tube is disconnected or not, and whether there is defecation and exhaust from the anus or not.
1. Whether the intestinal tube is dissected or not: the intestinal tube wall of double-lumen stoma is not dissected, which is placed outside the abdominal cavity and then cut longitudinally, so that the feces can be discharged from the proximal fistula opening, and a small portion of the feces can be discharged from the distal anus. The single lumen stoma is the intestinal tube is dissected, the distal intestinal tube is not placed in the abdominal cavity, only can be discharged from the fistula opening feces.
2. Double stoma will also have anal discharge, defecation, but defecation is very thin rarely. The single cavity stoma is basically no such situation.
The patient should choose a suitable surgical program under the guidance of the attending physician according to their own situation.
