Based on the fever and chills, it is not possible to effectively determine whether it is a wind-heat cold or wind-cold cold, because both of them have the symptoms of fever and chills.
The main symptoms of colds are headache, fever, nasal congestion, bad wind, etc. Due to the difference of individual’s physical condition and disease, colds are differentiated into wind-heat colds and wind-cold colds in terms of symptomatic manifestations.
Symptoms of wind-heat cold are fever, sweating, slight wind, headache and distension, redness or pain in the throat, coughing and sputum, and thirst. Symptoms of wind-cold flu are fever, cold (fear of cold), headache, no sweating, nasal congestion, runny nose, itchy throat, sore limbs, sputum, cough, heavy voice, and so on.
Both malignant wind and malignant cold are manifestations of chills, so it is impossible to tell whether fever and chills are wind-heat or wind-cold colds. It is recommended that patients with fever and chills should consult a doctor who can guide them to treatment after identifying the symptoms.
