Hysterectomy requires about 1 week of hospitalization, but there are individual variations.
Hysterectomy is a relatively major gynecologic surgery. If the surgery is done laparoscopically, you can be discharged from the hospital in 5 to 7 days after the surgery because the surgical incision is smaller in laparoscopic surgery. If the hysterectomy is done through an open procedure, the recovery time after surgery may also be longer as the surgical incision is larger, and the patient can usually be discharged from the hospital in 7 to 10 days.
After hysterectomy, patients need to rest for 2 months, during which they should pay attention to pubic hygiene, prevent infection, avoid engaging in high-intensity physical labor, especially physical labor that increases abdominal pressure, and avoid sitting or squatting for a long time to prevent constipation.
If a total hysterectomy is performed, please follow the doctor’s instructions for postoperative rehabilitation.
