It is not scientific to say that one acupuncture point can cure all liver diseases. Liver diseases are complex and varied, and need to be diagnosed and analyzed to select the appropriate acupoints for treatment. Clinically, the commonly used acupoints for treating liver diseases include Taichong, Ximen, Liver Yu and other acupoints. 1. Taichong: Taichong is located on the dorsum of the foot, between the 1st and 2nd metatarsal bones, in the depression in front of the metatarsal base union, or where the arterial pulsation is touched. It is an important acupoint of the liver meridian. Its effects are to calm the Liver and extinguish wind (regulating the function of the Liver to get rid of internal wind), dredge the Liver and nourish Blood. It can be used to treat dizziness, dysmenorrhea and insomnia. 2. Phase Gate: Phase Gate is the last point of the Liver meridian, located below the nipple, at the 6th intercostal space, 4 inches away from the anterior midline, Phase Gate is a recruitment point for the Liver and is closely related to the activities of the Liver. Its effects are to calm the liver and subdue yang (suppressing too much rising yang energy in the liver), and to ease the liver and strengthen the spleen (regulating the liver’s qi and strengthening the spleen’s function). 3. Liver Yu: Liver Yu point is 1.5 inches away from the spine, under the spinous process of the 9th thoracic vertebrae, and has the effect of dredging the liver and regulating the stagnation of liver qi (regulating the stagnation of liver qi), and facilitating the relief of bile and depression. Symptoms of liver disease should be promptly to the regular hospital for diagnosis and treatment, so as not to delay the condition.
