Xia Gu Cao can treat thyroid nodules, but the therapeutic effect is related to the patient’s condition and physique and varies from person to person. Thyroid nodule is the name of western medicine, Chinese medicine is called gall tumor (equivalent to thyroid tumor), the pathogenesis of Qi stagnation, phlegm coagulation, blood stasis congestion in front of the neck and the onset of the disease. Treatment is based on regulating qi and resolving phlegm (regulating the body’s qi to resolve phlegm), eliminating galls and dispersing knots. Xia Gu Cao has the effects of clearing the liver and brightening the eyes (removing liver fire to promote the recovery of eyesight), eliminating swelling and dispersing knots. It is used in the treatment of redness and swelling of the eyes, nocturnal pain of the eyeballs, headache and dizziness, scrofula (mainly refers to tuberculosis of the lymph nodes in the neck), gall tumors, canker sores, breast fetish (painful lumps in the breasts, which are closely related to menstrual cycle and changes in emotions and moods and are equivalent to mammary hyperplasia), and breast distension and pain. Xia Gu Cao can be used to clear liver fire, disperse stagnation and treat gall tumors caused by phlegm-fire stagnation. It can be boiled and taken as a single paste, or used with Xuan Shen to clear heat and fire (to remove heat and fire from the body), Seaweed and Kombu to eliminate phlegm and soften the hardness of the body, and Qing Pi and Bian Xia to regulate qi and dissolve phlegm, thus clearing heat and resolving phlegm, eliminating galls and dispersing stagnation. The adverse effects and contraindications of the above drugs are not clear. Note that most of these drugs are cold in nature, and should be used with caution in people with diarrhea and weak spleen and stomach. When thyroid nodule or unknown swelling occurs, it should consult a doctor in time, do not use drugs blindly, so as not to delay the condition.
