Do you check chromosomes for pediatric hypospadias?

Chromosomal testing is usually not needed in children with hypospadias. However, in the presence of severe hypospadias, or in combination with gonadal abnormalities, chromosomal testing is required. Hypospadias is a relatively common congenital malformation of the genitals, the specific cause is not clear, may be related to family history, mother’s advanced age and so on. According to the location of the urethral opening, it can be categorized into four types: penile head type, penile body type, penile scrotum type and perineal type. Surgery is usually considered after diagnosis and can be performed in a single operation or in two stages. Surgical treatment is recommended from June to 18 months to improve the child’s condition through penile curvature correction and urethroplasty. If the child has severe hypospadias, or if there is a combination of abnormal gonadal development, it is recommended that chromosomal tests be performed to determine the cause of the condition. If the child has hypospadias, it is recommended to seek timely medical treatment and actively cooperate with the treatment.
