How should mycotic sinusitis be treated

Mycotic sinusitis, or fungal sinusitis, is caused by fungal infections of the sinuses, including: fungus ball, allergic fungal sinusitis, acute invasive fungal sinusitis and chronic invasive fungal sinusitis. Surgical treatment, medication and general treatment need to be selected according to the type of disease and degree of illness.
1. Surgical treatment: All types of mycotic sinusitis are suitable for surgical treatment, and the surgical method can be selected according to the scope of the lesion by traditional approach surgery or transnasal endoscopic surgery. At present, more clinics adopt transnasal endoscopic sinus surgery to completely remove the lesions.
2. Drug treatment:
(1) Fungal ball: no need to cooperate with antifungal drug treatment after surgery.
(2) allergic fungal sinusitis: postoperative glucocorticoid drugs must be used to effectively control the condition, the clinical use of oral prednisone or intranasal glucocorticoid, such as budesonide nasal spray.
(3) acute invasive fungal sinusitis and chronic invasive fungal sinusitis: invasive fungal sinusitis must be used after surgery with antifungal drugs, more commonly used is itraconazole and amphotericin B, or clotrimazole, mycophenolate and flucytosine.
3. General treatment: allergic fungal sinusitis after surgery can be used antifungal drugs to irrigate the surgical cavity. Some hospitals will give intermittent oxygen for chronic invasive fungal sinusitis and acute invasive fungal sinusitis, and pay attention to improve the general condition.
