Symptoms of acromegaly

The common symptoms of acromegaly are muscle weakness and muscle atrophy, muscle tremor, pyramidal sign and other symptoms. 1. Muscle weakness and muscle atrophy: It is often seen that one side of the limbs or both sides of the limbs are clumsy and weak. After further aggravation of the symptoms, muscle atrophy may occur, such as the hands showing the shape of an eagle’s claw, dysphagia, dyspnea, reduced speech and even respiratory failure. 2. Myofascial tremor: the lesion causes voluntary discharge of motor nerve innervating muscle fiber bundles, resulting in local muscle contraction. 3. Pyramidal tract signs: when the lesion involves the pyramidal tract, spastic paralysis and hyperreflexia are common, and the pathological signs are mostly positive on examination. 4. Other symptoms: dementia, abnormal sensory function and vesico-rectal dysfunction can be seen in some patients. This disease is clinically known as atypical motor neuron disease. Precautions: When the symptoms of acromegaly appear, you should consult a doctor in time and insist on treatment to improve the quality of life.
